FQN Policies are what makes our team function and run smoothly. When we are following policies, and purposefully breaking them as opposed to on accident, we can build our team towards success. Policies are NOT the primary oversight and say regarding our decisions, Policies are just the way our team works together. Final oversight and decision making is overseen by our Guiding Documents and Board Directors.
Every policy is made by consensus through our team decision making process. Each policy can take many hours, sometimes months or years to perfect. By following policies we are respecting our own time in collectively creating them.
…or something like this:
Anyone can always change or amend a policy with a simple proposal. If you feel a policy doesn’t server in the moment, simply break the policy and do policy tracking. If you feel a policy no longer serves the team at all, then change it by making a simple proposal.
Example Proposal: To end the policy on requiring workers to show up on time.
Example Proposal: To change the policy on showing up on-time and allow workers to be up to 10 minutes late without having to do policy tracking.
Overtime our policies will evolve and change, and improve our teams outcomes towards success. By having our policies documented we know why we are successful and can scale and grow quickly by replicating what works.
When we have problems as a team we call that an Issue. Issues are always solvable by either following, updating, or creating a policy. If a policy can not solve a team issue, then most likely it is not an issue, but instead a contention or conflict that is deeper rooted between colleges. Policies do NOT address everything, so although they are important, we can not get stuck on policies, especially when problems are not related to policies and need more carful consideraiton.
